Justin Bieber isn’t just annoying his neighbors — now even his native land Canada is turning on him! A harsh column published in The Globe and Mail makes it clear that if Justin doesn’t change his ways soon, his home country is going to disown him.
“Justin Bieber Is A National Embarrassment,” is the headline of Amberly McAteer’s scathing column that ran in the Mar. 26 edition of the Canadian newspaper, The Globe and Mail.
Speaking on behalf of Justin’s native nation, Amberly goes at Justin HARD. It’s the singer’s shirtless trip through a Poland airport that seems to have ticked her off, as she writes, “Poor kid: With all his millions, Justin Bieber still cannot afford a single t-shirt.”
Bieber’s recent displays of shirtless behavior, alleged experimentation with drugs and alcohol, and passionate social media rants add up to paint “a very unflattering picture,” Amberly says. “I’m exhausted,” she adds before dropping the bomb: “This kid — who I admit, I had the highest hopes for — is becoming a national embarrassment.”
Amberly emphasizes the point that just because someone is old enough to be an adult doesn’t mean he is one, and she pleads with Justin to start being more responsible.
But, like a good journalist, Amberly also attempts to defend Justin. Her defense? Justin is still young! “Who among us at that age didn’t want to reject authority, flip the bird to people telling us who to be and what to say,” Amberly asks. It’s a good point and a benefit that Justin rarely ever gets from his critics.
So, is Canada turning on one of its biggest stars?
A poll attached to the online version of the column asks the question, “What are your thoughts on Justin Bieber’s future?” Readers had the opportunity to vote either that Justin “is just a typical 19-year-old boy,” is “still perfect,” or is “headed for disaster.” And my my, the results are shocking. SEVENTY percent of readers voted that Justin is headed for disaster!
The Canucks are mad at you, Justin! You better shape up!
