Yesterday, Mar. 13, Kristen Bell and ‘Veronica Mars’ creator Rob Thomas announced a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make a movie out of the cult television series. The goal — $2 million. Well, it only took them 11 hours to raise that much money! Holy smokes!
Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas, the star and creator of the Veronica Mars, respectively, knew that their TV show had a good following. But they probably didn’t think it had THIS good of a following!
“My mind is blown,” Rob told Entertainment Weekly.
‘Veronica Mars’ Raises $2 Million
The two reached out to the world on Mar. 13 hoping they could round up their fans into action. They explained that Warner Bros. Digital Distribution had agreed to put a Veronica Mars movie into production and pay for promotion, marketing, and distribution, all they had to do was front $2 million. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, yeah, it was pretty easy.
In less than half a day since Kristen and Rob started an online Kickstarter campaign, the goal was reached in full, and the pledges continued to flood in!
“I’ve been fantasizing about this and had to tell myself, ‘Stop it, Rob, you’re being silly,'” Rob said, unable to hold in his excitement.
“I knew Veronica Mars fans were cool, but I had no idea they could rally with such power,” Kristen added. “I will have a permanent blush on my face, feeling so lucky to be associated with this entire thing.”
The ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie: What To Expect
As for the movie, Rob has revealed that it will involve murder, mystery, and a high school reunion. You know, like a Veronica Mars episode. “These amazing fans have stepped up,” Rob says, “We better deliver.”
