Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving The View

Barbara set the record straight March 11, telling ‘The View’ audience that Elisabeth is staying put.

The ladies of The View played an impromptu game of True or False on the show’s March 11 episode, addressing the rumors that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being fired for her conservative views. According to the mistress of the round table, Barbara Walters, those rumors are completely “false.”

“We value and appreciate [Elisabeth’s] point of view,” Barbara told the audience. “She is tougher than she looks. We have no plans for Elisabeth to leave the show.”

Needless to say, Elisabeth looked very relieved.

One person who is leaving, however, is Joy Behar. The comedian had previously given a statement to HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline, but this was the first time she officially addressed the issue on The View.

“When you announced this last week, it was very bittersweet,” Barbara told Joy. “I want what’s best for you, but I will miss you. But you have your reasons for wanting to go, and I’m happy when you’re happy.”

That’s right, people, the ladies of The View actually got along! But don’t worry, they were quickly back at each other’s throats moments later as they discussed the roles of women in the workplace.

Original Report: Elisabeth Hasselbeck Is Leaving ‘The View’

So how did this Elisabeth rumor get started in the first place? A source told Us Weekly that admittedly-polarizing Elisabeth was too conservative for most viewers.

“The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing,” a source told the mag. “People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed.”

HollywoodLifers, are you glad Elisabeth is staying put, or were you happy thinking she was on her way out? Drop a comment with your thoughts!

Her “Views” are the best. She is a “Survivor”.

Elizabeth is best looking woman on this show. It is good that she is not leaving.

Elizabeth is rude to guest who don’t have the same political opinion as she does. I don’t really watch the view regularly, but when I do its always a consistent theme for Elizabeth’s crude behaviour. I watched the episode when the guy from “the actor’s studio” was on and he was giving his opinion on how belivable politcans are. Elizabeth was extremely rude, she bashed him, she was very distasteful, after that episode, I decided not to watch anymore. She comes off as hateful. Everyone should be able to express their opinion without being hateful or abrasive and I don’t think Elizabeth got that memo.

I’m happy Elisabeth is staying on the show. She actually is the ONLY one with my views and it wouldn’t be fair to get rid of her because of her political views. That would mean I would want the rest of the cast off the show because of their views, which I wouldn’t. It’s what make the View good. They should, however, have one more person on the View with Elisabeths policitcal preferences to make it a little more even.

YES! YES! YES! Thank you for using your brain instead of emotional, personal opinions. So many, (too many) people believe their opinions are fact.

It doesn’t matter to me one way or the other. But i really think they all should listen to them selves. All talking at once and who can pay attention. It they have a guest on they do quiet down but it seems the person that would agree with them more or is the biggest fan gets to chat with them. The one thing about Elizabeth is those huge hands. She should keep her hands under the table.

Huge hands to go with her huge mouth and ego. Don’t know how her husband puts up with her. I would think he’s a democrat, but to afraid to say it. Very rude person. It’s one thing to be opinionated, but being ignorant is another thing. Barbara NEEDS TO GO! She has NO IDEA what the hell is going on anymore.
