The ‘Jessie’s Girl’ singer was allegedly taken into custody on March 8 after blowing off a court date for a previous DUI arrest.
Rick Springfield was issued a DUI back in May 2011 after cops pulled him over in his 1963 Corvette Stingray in Malibu — he appeared to be intoxicated. His run-in with the law was less than cordial. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Rick threatened to kill the deputy who had arrested him, and the deputy’s family, if he had Rick’s car towed. The star is now facing consequences after he failed to show up for his court date to resolve the DUI matter.
Rick Springfield Arrested For Missing Court Date
A representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told TMZ, “Deputies went to Rick’s L.A. home this morning to execute the warrant … but by the time he was being booked, Rick’s attorney had the warrant recalled. Rick was subsequently released.”
Rick addressed the incident on his Facebook page while in the Lost Hills sheriff station. He posted,” I didn’t know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it’s been cleared up and I am free to go.”
A Warrant Was Issued For Rick’s Arrest
After Rick missed his court date in February, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. A representative for the court said, “He was supposed to show proof he completed an alcohol education program. Rick was also supposed to pay $1,555 in fines. Rick was ordered to complete the alcohol program as a part of a plea deal he struck with prosecutors to keep his ass out of jail.”
Though Rick flipped out on law officials during his arrest in May 2011, he did not appear to threaten anyone during this arrest.
