Upon receiving the Lacoste Spotlight Award at The Costume Designer Guild Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 19, Anne Hathaway, 30, was put on the spot about her latest wardrobe malfunction. Les Miserables co-star, Russell Crowe, 48, who presented the regal beauty with the award, was prepared with some striking one-liners about the incident. Luckily, Anne was a good sport about the twisted turn of events!
After leaving the NYC premiere of Les Miserables on Dec. 10, Anne’s too-tight dress lifted to reveal that she wasn’t wearing any underwear! Upon presenting Anne with her award, Russell admitted to looking up the award winner and finding that as a kid, she aspired to become a nun. He jokingly rebutted, “Isn’t that lovely? Then she found out they actually require you to wear underpants when they go out at night.” Thankfully, Anne, along with the entire audience, was dangerously close to laughing induced tears.
On a more serious note, Crowe noted that 2013 was “Anne Hathaway’s year,” a fabulous description of her latest performances. The leading lady admitted to having an inkling that he was going to bring up her wardrobe malfunction. “I was wondering when you were going to make a joke about that,” the actress said to Crowe.
Anne definitely made up for her little slip-up in the stunning gold Gucci mini dress that she wore to receive her Lacoste Spotlight Award. HollywoodLifers, do YOU think it was too soon for Russell’s snarky remarks? Or were they the perfect opportunity for Anne to publicly confront her fashion nightmare? Comment below!
