At the inauguration on Jan. 21, 61-year-old Jill Biden showed off her sense of style in numerous ways. From her shimmering jacket to her satin, blue gown, she stunned the crowds in her appropriate yet chic style choices. With everyone dressing their best it’s hard for all of the women to stand out, but Jill certainly caught our attention.
She donned a gorgeous shimmering silk and wool coat with a large bow at the neckline. Under this amazing piece, she wore a Lela Rose dress from Neiman Marcus. The whole look came together and looked fabulous on Jill. Lela has dressed Jenna Bush and Barbara Bush at a previous inauguration, and she received much recognition for her work. The coat was specifically crafted for Jill after she selected a dress from the department store by the designer.
In a phone interview with The New York Times, Lela said, “I wanted to create a coat that looked good with the dress without being exactly a matching look.” She couldn’t have created a more glam coat! Even though she looks all bundled up, Jill was probably not so warm. Lela said, “I’m sure she’s cold. The coat is not all that warm.” That’s okay though because she still looked amazing!
Jill brought her wonderful fashion sense to the Presidential Inaugural Ball. She sported a silky blue Vera Wang gown, with a draped front and back. The black belt at the waist showed off her shape. She looks amazing, with her look still remaining appropriate for her age.
Vera Wang was so proud and must have felt so accomplished. She even posted to Twitter, “What a joy, honor and privilege to have dressed Dr Jill Biden for tonight’s Inauguration. A beautiful, spirited, accomplished woman!”
