Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogan are the best new comedy couple since Bill and Ted. And, like Bill and Ted, they go on a hilarious, excellent adventure, that you guessed, it leads to some great big realizations.
But what’s better than Bill and Ted is that almost all of us will recognize our own relationships with our moms, in this new comedy hitting theaters today.
Just like Andy Brewster (Seth Rogan) and Joyce Brewster (Barbra Streisand), we don’t nearly appreciate the depth of love our mothers have for us, and that we hold for them. Instead, we forget that our parents have had their own pre-kid lives, their own hopes and dreams, and their own aspirations.
When Andy, a bio chemist inventor, decides to visit his widowed mom Joyce in NYC, before starting a cross country car trip to sell his revolutionary,wholy organic cleaning product, , he makes a shocking discovery.
His mom has passionately loved another man Andrew Margolis, since she was a young woman. But sadly, Andrew couldn’t commit so she married another man – Andy’s dad.
Andy takes to the internet and discovers that his mother’s true love is alive, well, and living in San Francisco. Curious, he invites his mom to join his road trip.
The adventures begin.
Can’t Wait for the Guilt Trip Part 2
Let’s just say that Andy comes to realize that his mom is way more fun and far wiser than he thought and that HE has a lot to learn about love, and about selling the product of his life.
Barbara is so funny, warm, and believable, she really needs to consider acting a whole lot more, not less.
And the other reason you need to take your mom to The Guilt Trip is so you can give her a big hug when it’s over. I know, I wish my mom was here, so I could.
