A new video shows Malala’s amazing recovery in a UK hospital, where she reads cards and letters from her hospital bedside. Her father says she is ‘recovering well.’
Malala Yousafzai, 15, proved her resilience and commitment to education by reading cards from well-wishers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she has been recovering since Oct. 15. Malala was viciously shot in the Swat valley in Pakistan on Oct. 9 by the Taliban for her efforts to promote girls’ rights to education.
Her father Ziauddin Yousafzai, speaking out in the video, said his daughter is “recovering well,” and that she is humbled by the outpouring of support she has received, and wanted to thank those who helped her “survive and stay strong.”
“We deeply feel the heart-touching good wishes of the people across the world of all caste, colour and creed,” Ziauddin said.
Malala has been seen as a symbol of courage and activism for her efforts to defy extremists and promote girls’ education in Pakistan — the reason she was targeted by the Taliban and shot at point-blank range on Oct. 9.
Some of the gifts she has received so far include money, CDs, school books, clothes, toys and jewelry, plus dozens of letters and messages and messages supporting Malala’s campaign for girls’ education.
It looks like Malala is getting so much better! We wish her a healthy and speedy recovery, and praise her for her efforts.
