The Olympian matched her gold medal to the gold sash on her dress for the December 2012 cover — and she looks great!
16-year-old Gabby Douglas has another accomplishment to add to her ever-growing resume. The Olympic gold medalist has landed on the December 2012 cover of Essence magazine and snagged one of their ‘Women of the Year’ titles — and we think she’s a fantastic choice! The pint-sized athlete looks radiant in a black and gold Notte by Marchesa frock, while inside she opens up about making Olympic history as the first American to ever take home the gold in both individual all-around and team events, and the first black gymnast to win the individual all-around gold — she’s unstoppable!
Along with her Olympic fame, Gabby has befriended Michelle Obama, landed a beauty campaign, and a guest spot on The Vampire Diaries — but the teen is still so grounded. “In my dreams I didn’t think about how many shows I would be on and how many people would tweet me…it’s so cool!” Gabby told the mag.
And she’s in good company, with First Lady Michelle Obama and Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts among the list of amazing women honored inside the issue.
Way to go, Gabby!
