Robert Kennedy Sent Daughter Kyra To Live With Cheryl Hines After Mother’s Suicide

How insensitive! While Kyra, 16, was depressed and mourning the suicide of her mother, her dad made her live with the girlfriend whom her mother couldn’t stand.

Shortly after Mary Kennedy‘s tragic suicide in May, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sent his daughter Kyra Kennedy, 16, to live with his girlfriend Cheryl Hines in Los Angeles — while she was still mourning the death of her mom.

“Kyra took the news of her mother’s death very, very hard,” a source told RadarOnline.com

“She started going off the rails a bit and the family was concerned over what she would do, how it would all play out. The last thing the Kennedys wanted was another embarrassing scandal, so, Robert decided the best move was to pack her off to live with Cheryl in L.A., away from her friends and any bad influences.”

The decision to send his daughter across the country was controversial, especially since the late Mary was extremely upset to find out her husband was involved with the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress.

But a source close to Cheryl said the change of scenery was a positive move for the 16-year-old who was facing a downward spiral.

“Cheryl is a complete sweetheart and she is a great mother,” the source said. “She has a very calming manner and is very upbeat and positive, so it is a great environment for Kyra to be in.”
