Even though RFK had filed for divorce from the mother of his four children she still called him her ‘husband’ up until her suicide on May 16 — read on to find out how he filed restraining orders, tried to take custody of their four kids and more.
Mary Kennedywas going through emotional strife up until her tragic death. The estranged wife of Robert F Kennedy Jrreportedly turned to alcohol in fear that her husband was going to take custody of their kids and she was in “deep credit card debt.”
“He was kicking her while she’s down, all alone in this house that she built,” a source says. “In the end, everything was just too much.”
American Express had reportedly filed a civil suit against Mary which is surprising since she comes from such a well-known Kennedy family.
“He was going for full custody of the kids, which broke her heart,” the source adds. “She also had been part of the Kennedy family for 30 years. And now she was being cast aside by them.”
Mary felt so lonely and neglected that she had resorted to alcohol and prescription drugs and had ofter threatened suicide. This caused the family to stage an intervention.
“There were times when she had to be taken to the hospital when she would be acting irrationally and threatening to hurt herself,” another source revealed.
Mary was reportedly very embarrassed that he stepped out with Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines at the Riverkeeper Annual Fisherman’s Ball in late April.
“She faced losing her kids,” the source said. “And his relationship with Cheryl Hines was humiliating. At an event last month, he walked the red carpet with Cheryl as a couple and took the kids. She loved him. Her family and her home [were] her heart and soul. Even after they separated, she was pretending everything was fine. She’d still call him her husband. It was bizarre and sad.”
Mary’s funeral will be held on the morning of May 19 at St. Patrick’s Church in Bedford, NY and she will be buried in Hyannis, MA.
