Was the right celeb fired? Relive all the serious business & vote! (Oh, spoiler alert.)
On the April 15 episode of The Celebrity Apprentice, Human Puppet-master Donald Trump handed the strings over to the contestants, tasking them to create two characters for a live-action Jim Henson Studios production. And with Lisa Lampanelli at the helm of her team, you knew you were in for a show — off-stage of course.
Right away, Lisa clashed with her arch nemesis Dayana Mendoza. Lisa figured that with years of experience under their belts, she should take the stage with Penn Jillette and Clay Aiken, placing Dayana behind the scenes. Of course, the former Miss Universe had hoped to be in front of the audience, so she copped a little ‘tude that carried into the boardroom. And that’s when things really got weird.
Lisa broke down in tears and threatened to leave the competition! Bless her heart, Aubrey O’Day was the first to insist Lisa stay, which was quickly encouraged by The Donald, himself. She said she cried because Dayana’s behavior was offensive to — I think — every TV crew in the business.
“I’m not going to be a villain just because I have strong opinions,” Lisa said through her tears. “I’m a comedian; I got into this business to make people happy, not to make girls cry.”
Fortunately for Lisa, her team won the challenge, which left Teresa Giudice, Arsenio Hall, Aubrey O’Day and project manager Paul Teutul, Sr. to face the Donald alone. It took about two minutes for Teresa to throw Paul under the bus — even though he only fell short because of his back problems — and Aubrey supported her. Mostly out of fear. At least I think that was fear. It’s hard to tell which emotion Aubrey is processing at any given moment.
Not choosing to bring Arsenio back into the boardroom may have been Paul’s greatest mistake, though, as the Donald fired him.
And his enormous mustache.
