Lindsay Lohan told Matt Lauer she’s been sober ‘for a long time’ and plans on staying that way. Good for her!
Lindsay Lohan says she’s made the transition from Hollywood party girl to Hollywood “homebody,” because she wants to get her career back on track. In an interview with Matt Lauer that aired on Thursday’s Today Show, the notoriously troubled starlet admitted she’s staying “clean and sober.”
“It’s been a while. It’s been a long time,” Lindsay told Matt about how long she’s been sober.
The 25-year-old actress said she tries to surround herself with people who have been in her situation because they can empathize with each other. She also tries to avoid the Hollywood party scene, because she feels more comfortable at home.
“I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend,” she said. “And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn’t fun for me. I’ve become more of a homebody. And I like that.”
While Lindsay said she didn’t really relate to Whitney Houston‘s untimely death, she did admit to knowing what it’s like when drugs and alcohol start to overshadow a person’s talent.
“It’s a really sad factor that can come into play in people’s lives sometimes if you don’t recognize it. And a lot of people don’t like to, and I think I did that for a long time. I think I was scared and didn’t want to admit it to myself, let alone anyone else,” admitted Lindsay.
Fortunately, she was able to admit she had a problem, and is now working towards rebuilding her career. This weekend she will host Saturday Night Live for her fourth time, and is preparing her role as Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming film.
“I don’t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore. So being able to have this opportunity with ‘SNL‘ and the film, I’m gonna do what I’m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can,” Lindsay said, when she was asked if she can turn around her reputation.
