A mother’s desperate plea on ‘The View’ brings her missing daughter home!
Sometimes even the worst nightmares have a happy ending! Bronx teen Mishell-Nicole DiAmonde Green, who went missing Sept. 8 while on her way to an after-school program in Manhattan’s SoHo district, has been returned to her family safe and sound, ABCNews.com reports.
On Feb. 24, Mishell’s mother, Janell Johnson-Dash, made an emotional appearance on The View, where she begged viewers for information about her daughter’s whereabouts. An anonymous tipster called into the Black and Missing Foundation 15 minutes after the segment aired with Mishell’s location. Hours later, she was found at Safe Horizon, a shelter for victims of violence in New York City.
In a statement, the Green family thanked The View “for providing a platform that gave Mishell’s story the media attention needed for her recovery.” They also voiced their gratitude for the outpouring of support they’ve received from the community. “We thank all who lifted your hearts and voices in prayer, who posted reports, who told about her disappearance, who called us with suggestions, and who were there,” the family said.
Following Mishell’s recovery, Janell made a second appearance on The View on Feb. 27, where she happily stated that the family has already begun healing. While Mishell isn’t yet ready to share all the details about her time away from home, Janell is hopeful that she’ll be able to open up soon. She also said that the 16-year-old is going into therapy.
Janell, who never believed her daughter ran away, also stressed that Mishell was not a runaway and that there was a lot more going on.
One thing the relieved mother knows for sure? “She’s happy to be home,” Janell said of her little girl.
Mishell’s family must be over the moon to finally have her back with them! We’re so thrilled for them!
