Well not everyone’s holiday was terrible — Arizona and Callie had a great time in the end — but some of the surgeons got the shaft when it came to love in Seattle.
About 50 percent of the stories on Grey’s Anatomy‘s Valentine’s episode ended happily — the rest? Not so much.
Christina (Sandra Oh) & Owen (Kevin McKidd): Owen said he was going to move out, but then they had a moment in the air-shaft thing, reminiscent of their earlier relationship. So I’m not exactly sure where they stand.
Owen & Teddy (Kim Raver): Obviously, they are not romantically involved, but their friendship is over — Teddy told Owen that she hated him and she doesn’t understand how so many good soldiers died in Iraq, yet God let Owen live. Ouch.
Bailey (Chandra Wilson) & Ben (Jason George): Knowing that there’s no way he could get Bailey to a “normal” dinner, Ben set up a romantic table for two, complete with waiter service, at the hospital. Way to go, Ben.
Lexie (Chyler Leigh), Avery (Jesse Williams) & Mark (Eric Dane): Inspired by a dead patient, Lexie decided to tell Mark that she was still in love with him. Using Zola — Lexie was the aforementioned babysitter — as a pretense, she went over to Mark’s, only to see that he was there eating dinner with Avery. Awkward.
Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.) & Adele (Loretta Devine): Poor Richard, his Alzheimer’s-riddled wife didn’t recognize him, so he volunteered to do a surgery for Bailey.
Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) & Callie (Sara Ramirez): Arizona spent the whole hour moaning about the fact that she thought Callie was taking her camping as her secret Valentine’s plan. In fact, Callie arranged to have Derek’s trailer for the night and even bought sexy lingerie for the two of them to enjoy. So while Arizona was annoying, the ladies did have a pleasant evening.
Alex (Justin Chambers) & April (Sarah Drew): Well they aren’t a couple, either, but they were both alone and didn’t do much this episode. Alex promised a tween boy that he would be there when his tween girlfriend woke up to read a love letter to her, which was admittedly adorable. And April ran around the hospital, saving flowers and decorating walls with red and pink hearts. But neither had a date.
