Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb the two smart hosts on the Today Show helped set the record straight on the 5 biggest hair washing beliefs you might fall victim to!
This morning, Jan 9, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb aired a segment on the Today show that exposed the biggest so-called hair washing “beliefs”. While style stars Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian have gorgeous locks, even they could learn a thing or two from these tips! Is it a bad idea to wash your hair every day? Should we be using no more than a dime-size amount of shampoo? Read here to find out what’s true and what’s not!
#1 BELIEF: It’s a bad idea to wash your hair every day.
Fact! “It is not bad, but it’s not necessary either. It depends on the kind of hair you have! If it’s curly or thick, it tends to look better a bit dirty.”
#2 BELIEF: Lukewarm water is the ideal temperature for washing hair.
Fact! “This is because hot water tends to be overly drying for your scalp and skin, which can result in itchiness and dandruff. In stead, the show recommends a blast of cold water on your hair, at the end of a shower.
#3 BELIEF: You should brush your hair in the shower to help distribute shampoo/conditioner properly.
Myth! “Wet hair is actually more fragile than dry hair. If you want to brush your hair and detangle it, do it before you get into the shower.”
#4 BELIEF: Women should use no more than a dime-size amount of shampoo.
Myth! “It depends on the texture of your hair. If you have a lot of texture in your hair and/or you use a lot of styling products , then you’ll need more.
#5 BELIEF: Apply conditioner only to the ends of your hair and avoid conditioning the roots.
Fact! “Yes, you should only apply it to the ends because they need it more. Your hair can get really greasy if you apply to the roots. Also, shampoo only at the roots, not on the ends.”
What do you think, Hollywoodlifers? How many myths did YOU believe to be true, but they turned out to be false?
