MTV’s Teen Mom might have an expiration date — the birth rate among American teens is at it’s lowest level!
Did Jenelle Evans, Farrah Abraham and the other teen moms not get the message? Teen mom birth rates have dropped 9% from the previous year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention!
The Wall Street Journal released the report that says teen moms is on the decline: “There were 34.3 births per 1,000 people 15 to 19 years old in 2010, a 9% drop from 37.9 births the previous year.”
And this is a steady trend — the rate has fallen in 17 of the past 19 years! They attribute this to more-effective sex education and the result of a tough economy.
We think this is GREAT news! Most teens aren’t ready to handle parenthood, so we’re glad to see there’s a steady decline!
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think it’s because of the economy, better sex education or another factor?
