Following her estranged husband Russell Armstrong‘s suicide in August, Taylor Armstrong has been living an emotional roller coaster. Not only was she left to raise their daughter, Kennedy, alone, the reality star was forced to recover in the spotlight, as her TV show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, began its second season. Despite all of these hurdles, Taylor told HollywoodLife.com she’s feeling better and more whole as time goes on.
“I am doing better everyday and so is my daughter, but it is a process,” Taylor told us at the California Dreaming-A Fashion Celebration with a Cause in downtown Los Angeles Oct. 20.
After Russell died, photos and accounts of his abusive nature — especially toward Taylor — surfaced. Now she feels empowered to reach out to others who may be going through the same problems.
“I really feel like I have a mission to help other women,” she said. “I have now teamed up with Dr. Tracy at the W.I.N. Foundation which helps empower battered women around the world. They actually provide help for women online with a 20 day program that’s aimed at helping battered women to build up their self esteem. It’s really tough for battered women to et their self-esteem back and if they don’t then they will repeat the pattern and get into another abusive relationship.”
Taylor is focusing her efforts to helping women AFTER they get out of abusive relationships.
“There are so many women out there that need help and the pain and suffering doesn’t end just because you get out of an abusive relationship,” she explained. “Obviously it’s vital to get out of any abusive relationship, but you need a support system and tools to empower yourself to make the right choices and to take care of yourself.”
Taylor hosted the fashion show, as she’s friends with designer Marissa Kenson, who was being honored. We’re so glad to see Taylor is feeling better and looking fantastic!
