Chaz Dazzled On 'DWTS'! But Where Was His Mom, Cher? She Should Have Been There!

I don’t care how big a star Cher is, why wasn’t she there cheering on Chaz from the front row?

Were you, like me, wondering when the cameras panned to the audience — where Mama Cher was? There was her son dancing his heart out and doing a terrific job, and there was no Cher in sight.

It was especially poignant last night because all the other dancers had so many of their nearest and dearest there rooting for them.

David Arquette, looked dapper in his tux with tails, and was clearly moved by the strong support he received from separated wife of 11 years Courtney Cox and his adorable daughter, Coco, 7. “She is just so beautiful,” David gushed about Coco to hostess Brooke Charvet after dancing. “She’s the love of my life.”

Happily for Chaz, the love of his life — girlfriend, Jennifer Elia, was there for him, clapping wildly , with tears streaming down her face — she was so proud.

That should have been Cher, too! Here was her son , at 42, proudly announcing to the world that he was DWTS first transgender contestant, and then tackling the cha cha with energy and grace.

Cher should have been there in person to hear judge Carrie-Ann Inaba‘s praise. “I think people have been waiting all night to see you, Chaz, and you did not disappoint. You can dance! You had great footwork. You’ve got so much joy. You light up this room.” And Carrie-Ann was absolutely correct – he did light up the room.

Cher should have been there in person to hear judge Bruno Tonioli rave: “Great, great debut. You should be proud.”

Well Cher — your son had so much rhythm and charm — he absolutely could be the winner this year.

I know you were watching. You tweeted: “WOW ! HOW GREAT WAS MY SON. THE GREATEST,THING GREATEST THING,GREATEST THING NO MATTER WHAT !WHAT! WHAT! HES A WINNER ! I Was So Nervous!”

Then you tweeted : “Vote for Chaz on Dancing with the Stars right now Dial 1-800-868-3412 (You can vote from any phone line up to 12 times) #VoteForChaz” twice.

I’m sure Chaz appreciated your tweets and the fact that you watched, but don’t you think it would have  meant even more to him to see you there lending your support, in the room. No matter how big a star you are or think you are, you should still show up for your child , like Sarah Palin did for Bristol. Life doesn’t have that many purely joyful moments , like this one.   Cher- you really need to be there for them.
