Bonnie Says: For A Super Delish & Modern Steak In NYC, Try Marble Lane!

There may be a hundred good steak joints in NYC, but if you want a super delicious steak with sides, appetizers and salads that go beyond the traditional, you’ll be extremely happy at this new Meatpacking District restaurant.

Located inside the Dream Downtown hotel, the service is friendly and accommodating and chef Manuel Treviño has been hard at work doing fresh, light takes on all his offerings.

Everyone at our table was in full-on happy state from the moment the buttermilk caramel-crusted onion rings that we ordered as appetizers arrived. They weren’t greasy or heavy. Yum! They were crispy, crunchy and full of sweet onions.

The plancha calamari were equally tasty as was the lightly, but spicily dressed red and green Caesar salad with Parmesan croutons.

We didn’t want to fill up too much on appetizers and the restaurants’ crispy flatbread, because we were so excited by the upcoming steaks and sides.

We were not disappointed! I’d highly recommend the cowboy bone-in ribeye with chili dust and garlic butter. Finally, the order is easily big enough for two people to share, especially if you plan to indulge in multiple “sides,” which I suggest is the route to go.

The porterhouse pizzaiola  for two served with roasted peppers, grilled onions and tomatoes looked amazing though we didn’t try it. However, the pepper crusted center cut fillet with shallots, brandy and frites was totally melt-in-your-mouth.

Now, if you want to fully enjoy Marble Lane — arrive hungry, forget your diet and take full advantage of the potatoes menu. The triple cream whipped potatoes were so to-die-for we were practically licking the bowl. The duck fat potato souffle was actually light as a feather and the herbed frites were addictive.

As for the other veggies — we devoured the grilled asparagus, which were crispy and moist and the sauteed wild mushrooms were equally tasty.

As full as we were, we made sure to leave a little room in our stomachs for dessert and thank the Lord we did, because they were outstandingly yummy.

The warm chocolate donut with poblano chocolate sauce was beyond worth every single calorie. My husband Michael inhaled his banana split with caramelized bananas ands strawberries. And if chocolate is your thing, you also NEED to try the Devil’s cake marquee mousse with an amazing peanut popcorn butterscotch sauce. My mouth is literally watering as I’m writing this –it was THAT good. The combination of chocolate, peanuts and butterscotch was deliciously addictive.

I can also tell you that the wine selection was excellent including the house wines by the glass.

As for the atmosphere — whether you’re on a romantic date of with a group of friends of family, the restaurant is equally a good spot. Now it’s not quiet. It’s a lively energetic place with really fun music, spun by STADJ Model Deejays. And we were actually rocking to the music.

So go hungry and go for a good time!
