The Disney star says she was worried that everyone would look at her as just another starlet who entered rehab — adding her fans saved her life!
Demi Lovato battled an eating disorder and cutting for years, but she’s overcoming the odds and taking Hollywood by storm. Demi didn’t expect her comeback to happen so quickly.
“When I went into treatment I was really really scared and nervous that people would just look at me as another Hollywood actress or singer that fell into the dark side of Hollywood and had to go into rehab,” she tells the Saturday Night Online Show. “For me it was different I had been battling anorexia and bulimia and self harm and depression for so many years. When I went through my breakdown I had no choice but to get help.”
Demi entered rehab in November of 2010 and just eight months later she released her hit single “Skyscraper.”
“Now fortunately I’ve been able to use that for helping others using my voice and my music to inspire people,” Demi says. “At the end of the day that’s all that matters to me. If I’ve saved a life somewhere in this world I’m done … I’m good.”
We’re so happy to see Demi back on top and having such a profound impact on young girls struggling with body image everywhere.
