In a preview of the Lifetime special ‘Hef’s Runaway Bride’ Crystal Harris explains why she had cold feet before her big day! Do you sympathize with her or still feel so bad for Hugh Hefner?
Marrying Hugh Hefner seems like it would be every Playmate’s dream, but planning a huge wedding sent his infamous fiancee Crystal Harris running. As the big day started creeping nearer, Crystal felt herself pulling farther away from her hubby-to-be. In a Lifetime special that airs on July 19, Crystal opens up about why she dashed from the altar.
“I never as a little kid imagined what my wedding would be like one day but I kind of knew that I wasn’t supposed to be feeling like this,” admitted Crystal in the clip about her pre-wedding jitters.
We hope that most young girls don’t fantasize about swapping vows with a man 60 years their senior, but we understand Crystal’s sentiment that her feelings leading up to the wedding date were foreboding rather than joyous. While Hef and many of his former girlfriends were shocked by his runaway bride’s antics, Crystal says her decision wasn’t impulsive.
“I saw myself gradually checking out,” admitted Crystal.
While many people doubted Crystal’s motives when the couple got engaged, they were still shocked that she waited so long before she pulled the plug. Crystal’s best friend and maid of honor Anna Berglund says it was the stress of the wedding that pushed Crystal over the edge, rather than the reality of marrying a man sixty years older than her.
“Two weeks before the wedding Crystal started to feel a little overwhelmed by the wedding plans,” said Anna.
Whether it was the weight of the wedding or the fear of committing to America’s most infamous playboy, Crystal opens up about her decision to run on the upcoming Lifetime special. Although we’re sad that Hugh was hurt, we think it’s probably better for both parties that their marriage fell apart before it was consecrated.
