Ashley credited her decision to send Ryan P. and Lucas home to ‘differing ideas about family.’ Hmm, so is she not ready to be a mom?
Another Monday, another intense, cry-fest on The Bachelorette. This time though, Ashley Hebert‘s hysterics weren’t over Bentley Williams, which is always a good thing. But here’s what confused me: Ashley was SO in love with Bentley and the fact that he’s a single dad, but then she goes and votes off two suitors, Ryan Park and Lucas Daniels, who gushed about becoming fathers one day! Is Ashley not into starting a family? Her blog makes it sound like she’s not ready for kids!
“Saying goodbye to Lucas and all others from this point on was incredibly difficult because real emotions were involved,” Ashley writes in her blog for People.com. “During my conversation with Lucas on the group date, I realized that we had some very differing ideas about family and relationships. I began to see just how different we were and how there was very little room for change.”
On their alone time after the “wedding photo shoot” group date, all Lucas, 30, could talk to Ashley about was his family and how he hopes to be a dad someday.
Lucas, a previously divorced oil field equipment distributor from Odessa, Texas, told Ashley, “I want kids…I really do. I just miss the simple life. You know, look over in your bed and say, ‘Wow, I’m married to her. It’s going to be a good day.” Wow, he sounds pretty perfect to me! But obviously, Ashley wasn’t into it…
And the same with solar energy executive Ryan, 31, who was ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED — I’m talking Jake Pavelka-esque devastation here — when he was sent home in the middle of his first, and last, one-on-one date with Ashley. As the winner of the first impression rose, Ryan didn’t understand how or why Ashley would let him go. He thought for sure she’d be the mother of his children.
“I’m shocked,” he said, holding back tears. “I want to find someone who shares the same joy in life that I do. And wants to be a great mother and I want to be a great dad. I will be,” he adds, whimpering, “Someday, I will be.”
Obviously I know Ashley’s only 26 and still wants to explore the world without kids for the time being, but these two men were truly sincere about starting a family, and she sent them home for having “differing ideas” on the situation. Burn.
She has four amazing men left to choose from though, including Ben Flanjik, 28, Ames Brown, 31, Constantine Tzortis, 30, and J.P. Rosenbaum, 34. Hopefully they want kids so we can meet some new Bachelor babies in the future!
