We’ve seen more and more celebrities trying to stay active during their pregnancies and nothing seems to do the trick like prenatal yoga. But, what’s it all about?
From January Jones to Pink and Bethenny Frankel to Selma Blair, all the A-list moms and mommies-to-be in Hollywood agree: prenatal yoga is the hot new pregnancy trend! We decided to talk to an expert to see exactly what this new workout craze is all about!
“Prenatal yoga classes are more popular than ever,” Lisa Druxman, fitness expert and founder of Stroller Strides, tells HollyBaby.com. And there’s a good reason the stars choose yoga to keep the weight off! “Moms are looking for ways to stay fit during pregnancy and yoga is an excellent choice.”
Since the needs of a pregnant woman are constantly changing, one of the best aspects of prenatal yoga, Lisa says, is its flexibility. “Clients appreciate knowing that their instructor is well versed on what they can and can’t do and can modify for different stages of pregnancy.”
Not only are there health benefits, “prenatal yoga helps with strength, flexibility, balance and circulation – all which are important during pregnancy.” There are also social benefits!
“I think prenatal yoga and other prenatal classes are excellent because you meet other pregnant moms,” Lisa says. “They help you know what to expect and you benefit from instructors who are knowledgeable about your pregnancy.” We know that’s true! That’s the reason Selma and Ali Landry have grown so close!
Yoga also pays off in the long-run, the breathing exercises used during yoga can also be applied during labor.
