TV’s first-ever ‘Bachelorette’ Trista Sutter has some sage advice for the current ‘Bachelorette,’ Ashley Hebert.
“Enjoy it because it’s a once in a lifetime experience,” Trista, 38, who was a runner-up on the first season of The Bachelor, before snagging Ryan Sutter as her husband on The Bachelorette, tells Parade.com. “Be yourself and never settle.”
Trista, who’s seven-year marriage to Ryan has produced sons Max, 3, and Blakesley, 2, also suggests that Ashley take time out for herself. “I think a major thing is to relax as much as you can,” she says. “You really need to take any down time that they give you because you’re going constantly. What helped me was to keep a journal…Just to be one with my thoughts and get clarification on what was really happening and what my gut was truly feeling.”
And Ashley definitely has the thumbs-up from Trista. “Love her,” Trista says of Ashley. “I don’t think there’s ever been a Bachelorette that I haven’t really thought was adorable and intelligent and articulate, and I think she’s all of those things and more.”
In fact, Tristan and Ashley have been compared to each other, which Tristan doesn’t mind at all. “A lot of people have been commenting that she reminds them of me and I take that as a huge compliment because I think that she’s bubbly and fun loving, and I think she’s beautiful,” she says. “I’m really excited for her and hope that there’s a happy ending.”
