Mark Wahlberg and Justin Bieber each speak out about their new basketball movie project. Mark says he’s trying to encourage and build up Justin’s career!
At the MTV Movie Awards, June 5, Justin Bieber talked about his upcoming film with Mark Wahlberg, who chatted about the Biebs just the night before. The film is about basketball and would be Justin’s first serious role. Mark’s reaction to working with Justin on this movie was one of pure excitement. Meanwhile, Justin told MTV, “I know, it’s gonna be crazy!”
MTV reporter, Josh Horowitz chatted with both stars about their feelings on the film and working together. Marky-Mark kept it playful and jokingly said they were only doing the flick “If [Justin] gets his mind right, and stops trying to go for the money man, we’re trying to get you a career dude. What the f**k.”
Justin wouldn’t blow any plot details but was happy to be working with Mark. “You’ll have to, you’ll have to see. I can’t really reveal too much about it.” Mark was more than happy to comment on Justin’s basketball skills based on a video he saw of Biebs in Israel shooting hoops.
This film is much more serious than Justin’s film debut, Never Say Never. Mark described it “like the ‘Color of Money,’ Paul Newman.” Although the storyline has to do with basketball, it’s not going to be an automatic slam dunk. Justin will be putting his acting skills to the test with this one.
When asked if Justin could pull off this kind of gig, especially next to an Oscar-nominated actor like himself, Mark replied, “Listen we are not the kind of people that go out there and try and compete with our fellow actors, we try to encourage and build them up and make them look good, okay.” Sounds like Mark is ready to give Justin fair shot at being a serious actor… do you think he will make Mark proud?
