This is so incredibly scary and sad! The two boys were outside their Chicago elementary school when the older student opened fire.
Parents must be worried and very concerned while reading this tragic story. Two young boys were having a fight over Facebook threats and their fight came to a head outside Cook Elementary School in the South Side of Chicago at 2:45 pm. A 12-year-old boy was shot in the back, after a 14-year-old “suddenly started shooting.”
Teachers heard the badly wounded boy crying as he tried to get inside the locked school. Eyewitnesses said the shooter fled as hundreds of students ran for cover.
The victim’s relatives said that he had come to blows with the suspect, who is understood to have been from a rival gang, in the past. The suspect has reportedly turned himself in and the other student is fighting for his life in the hospital.
The boys were in rival gangs. Although the threats have been taken off Facebook, a friend of the victim has vowed to take revenge.
We hope that this fighting ends before more lives are put in danger. It’s just another warning that parents need to do their best to monitor kids’ Facebook pages to prevent fights from escalating.
