Anna Paquin, his HBO co-star and wife, is relieved — along with the rest of the cast — when Stephen calls it a day after crashing into a wall and rolling over!

Stephen Moyer knows he was lucky after surviving a scary “roller coaster ride” when his car flipped over at the 35th annual Toyota Pro Celebrity Race in Long Beach, Calif. So fortunate that he’s putting his racing career on hold for now!

“It was a surreal experience,” Stephen said after his accident Friday, E! reports. Somehow he was able to walk away from the multiple rollovers — and even managed to hold onto first place in the qualifying round of the charity event!

But it was his last turn at the wheel for a while. “While I’m disappointed I won’t be racing…” he said before the main event, “I know it’s in the best interest of my True Blood family” — which includes his wife Anna Paquin.

Actor William Fichtner, who appeared in The Perfect Storm, took first place. Battlestar Galactica actor Michael Trucco was third, behind a pro racer, and Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz was next. Kevin Jonas had a good qualifying round — but finished 13th.

And thankfully, there were no major incidents in addition to Stephen’s flips.

Should celebs be taking the wheel in dangerous events like this race? Take our poll and let us know!

You didn’t mention the fact that it was HBO who made the decision that he would not race again (saturday). If it would have only been Steve’s decision, he would have raced again.
