Ashley Hebert could get her heart broken on The Bachelorette, but at least she can be assured her suitors are free of sexually transmitted diseases! In fact, it’s common procedure for ABC to rigorously test the contestants before they can participate on the show.
“It’s the sexiest STD-free dating pool on Earth,” Jesse Csincsak tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “They make you pee in a cup and draw blood. If you have virus, you’re not going on the show.”
According to ABC, this testing is common procedure. If an individual becomes a top-50 finalist, he or she faces multiple rounds of producer interviews, STD screenings and an 800-question psych evaluation.
“It can be a somewhat emotionally taxing, people don’t realize how fast emotions get involved,” says Dr. Catherine Selden, who does the potential contestants’ psychological evaluations. “We want to make sure that people are going to be OK with coping with the stress involved, and make sure that they are going to be offered the help that they need if it’s the case.”
For Ashley, this means that the men currently courting her as she films the new season of The Bachelorette are all clean! So if she gets intimate with any of them, she shouldn’t have to worry.
And Jesse informs us of one other stipulation — Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants have to be drug-free as well! “If you are on drugs, they tell you stop doing drugs, then they will retest you in a week,” he says.
If the participant fails to come back clean, then it’s sayonara!
