The unnamed toddler was admitted into a hospital after becoming addicted to alcohol—thanks to his guardians.
This is just terrible! A three-year-old boy was given alcohol regularly for more than six months and is now being treated in a UK hospital to deal with his dependency. Experts say if the child, from West Midlands, didn’t enter treatment, he would suffer from withdrawal symptoms, including mood swings. There is also fear that the toddler might have brain damage. So disturbing.
“Any child requiring hospital treatment for alcohol-related illness is a cause for great concern, not just because of the short-term risks associated with under-age drinking such as accidents, but also long-term health problems such as brain development,” Chris Sorek, chief executive of Drinkaware tells the Daily Mail.
This boy is among 13 children under the age of 12 to be diagnosed as an alcoholic by the Heart of England NHS Trust between 2008 and 2010. So sad.
