Ok parents — this is one “kids” movie, where you and your little ones can be equally amused, for entirely different reasons.

Kids will yuck it up watching Rango, the sad sack lizard whose comfortable life inside an terrarium with a fake goldfish and headless doll, is upended when a car mishap tosses him into a highway in the American desert. I attended a screening hosted by The Cinema Society on Feb. 27 at the Crosby Street Hotel and I can tell you it’s a must see film!

A wise old anteater who finds the disheveled “hero” advises him to head into the desert on a quest for water, which he’s told he’ll find in the broken down town of Dirt.

That’s where the theatrical Rango gets a chance to re-invent himself — leaving behind his Hawaiian skirt-wearing lonely loser self and taking on the mantle of potential savior of the sad rodent-like inhabitants of Dirt.

The Dirtonians are desperate for water, which has been mysteriously disappearing at an alarming rate.

Adult film buffs will catch the Chinatown, High Noon, Star Wars, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Cat Ballou references and way more!

Kids will just go along for the fun adventure and laughs. Johnny Depp’s Rango has got to be the first loveably eccentric lizard to hit the big screen and you’ll be relieved that your afternoon with the kids will keep you as amused as they are!

The film hits theaters on Mar. 4 so you better run out and see it now!
