The reality star opens up about her battles with food and how she managed to overcome a lifelong eating disorder!
Bethenny Frankel may look fitter and more gorgeous than ever these days, but in truth the reality star spent her entire life jumping from diet to diet and frequently binging and then starving herself! Bethenny tells US Weekly, “I would go buy magazines just to see what the new diet was and rip it out: the cabbage-coup diet, the stewardess diet, the Atkins diet, the Scarsdale diet, the Beverly Hills diet. I’ve been on 5,000 diets.”
As for her days of starving herself, Bethenny said: “I used to go out and drink and go to the deli downstairs. The next day, I would vow not to eat because last night I wasn’t ‘good.’ Food was my best friend or enemy.”
This all changed on a trip to Italy in 2006 when Bethenny decided she was not going to deprive herself of any foods and would instead just eat smaller portions. This is a system she follows today, along with exercise, but not to the extreme. “I do my yoga DVD,” she explains. “You can work out for 20 minutes, feed the baby and come back to exercise more.”
Bethenny says she did recently lose more weight then she would like while filming Skating With the Stars, and it actually made her feel self-conscious. “I was too thin. We were running around like maniacs — skating three to four hours a day for 90 days in a row — and I was eating the way I eat now, and weight was just falling off me.”
