Can’t find time to squeeze in a workout? Bring the kids along for the fun — Alison loves family exercises!
As the host of NBC’s The Biggest Loser and the author of the new book The Mommy Diet, Alison Sweeney knows her stuff when it comes to health, fitness and balancing the various — and exhausting — tasks that come with motherhood. Alison, 34, has found the perfect balance between taking care of herself and her two kids Ben, 3, and Megan, 11 months: mommy-kid workouts. Even the dog joins in on the fun!
“It’s fun to get the whole family involved,” Alison tells HollyBaby.com about including Ben and Megan in her workout routines. “I take the kids with me to hike or walk our dogs. We have fun.” But it’s not all fun and games — it’s about staying healthy. “I recently learned my dog Winky is overweight and it really upset me, so now I’m helping Winky lose weight!”
Alison’s kids, with husband David Sanov, are also into munching on vegetables and healthy snacks. “They like treats as much as the next kid but they both are great about eating their veggies too,” Alison says. “Ben loves snacking on raw bell peppers. Megan adores peas. She’ll eat them first no matter what else is on her plate.”
But balancing work, motherhood and a healthy family lifestyle isn’t easy — especially when you’re a TV host, author and soap opera star! “It’s definitely not easy to make time for all the important things I want to do!” Alison explains. “It’s a give-and-take type thing, where every day I just make the best decisions I can for that day. There are things I do when I feel the pressure, like sit in a hot bath with a glass of wine or just unwind with a book. I need something that really takes me away from my issues, that’s also why I like my spin class so much. It requires my full attention – like a good yoga practice.”
