Wow, what a great way to spend Christmas! Brangelina took their six kids to Namibia for an African getaway and we have all the details of the eco lodge and animal sanctuary that they stayed at — it sounds amazing!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie promised their kids an exciting holiday adventure, and man, did they get it! Brangelina and their six children Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 4, Knox and Vivienne, 2, all spent the Christmas weekend in Shiloh’s African birth country, Namibia, at the Naankuse Lodge and Wildlife Sanctuary! This eco-tourism spot sounds — and looks — so awesome, we want to go!
The family stayed with Dr. Rudie van Vuuren, a well-known Namibian physician and conservationist, his wife Marlice, and their son Zacheo at the Naankuse Lodge, which not only has stunning views, a bar and a swimming pool, but offers exciting carnivore feeding tours and is the home to the NamibRand nature reserve, which allows guests to track big wild cats through gorgeous landscapes. Does this not sound like the perfect holiday for the Jolie-Pitt brood?
The volunteers at the animal sanctuary, which is located close to the Naankuse grounds, allow guests to spend some time with orphaned baboons — giving them their bottles and playing around with the babies. The Jolie-Pitts also might have spent some time with semi-tame cheetahs, caracals and leopard cubs! All the animals that are kept in the sanctuary were orphans who most likely suffered injuries and cannot survive on their own in the wild. They include a tame three-legged cheetah named Lucky, but the sanctuary also works to release those animals that can be rehabilitated back into the wild. No wonder Brad and Angelina decided this was the perfect place to spend Christmas!
Naankuse also offers children’s parties, featuring a visit to the petting farm, which has bunnies, meerkats, baby steenbok and baby baboons! What kid wouldn’t love that? During the day, staff members host a guided bird watching walk which ends with the “Vulture Hide” where you can witness the birds feeding on the feast of the day. And the fun doesn’t end there, at night the lodge hosts stargazing for guests to get a glimpse into the world of astrology! To us, this is a dream vacation for any adventurous kid, ahem, those action-packed Jolie-Pitts! Shiloh, with her love of the macabre, must have gone crazy for the vulture feast!
The lodge also sponsors the nearby San bushman community, building them a new village and school, and opening a clinic with a doctor and nurse — a cause that we know is close to Angelina and Brad’s hearts.
Coincidentally, Naankuse Lodge is an ideal venue for weddings! Could it be that Angelina and Brad were scouting out a place to finally tie the knot? We hope so!
