Amber was finally arrested on domestic felony battery charges & she’s being treated just like ‘everyone else’ while spending 24 hours in jail.
Amber Portwood isn’t getting special treatment while behind bars. The Teen Mom star put on the standard orange and white stripped inmate shirt Dec. 27., and spent the night on a typical “thin” jail mat, at the Madison County Jail in Anderson, Ind., last night. The 20-year-old reality star was arrested and charged with two counts of a Class D felony for domestic battery, neglect and a misdemeanor for beating up her baby daddy Gary Shirley, stemming from episodes of the MTV show.
A reporter for The Herald Bulletin who went to the jail says that even though Amber has been placed on a 24-hour hold, and has posted her $5,000 bond, she seemed to be in good spirits and was “smiling and speaking with the jail guards.”
Amber was brought into the jail through a “prisoner transport garage” by the Anderson Police instead of turning herself in, for safety reasons. According to the Herald Bulletin, Amber was wearing jeans along with her inmate shirt, when they stopped by the jail. Instead of being placed in her own cell, the jail decided to place Amber in a holding cell with “four other female inmates.”
“She’ll be treated as any other person would be,” Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said.
Amber is expected to make a court appearance this afternoon before being released.
