She can dance, she can cheer — but does she have what it takes to battle the undead?
After holding her own with the cast of Glee, Heather Morris may have a new challenge: proving herself to a nation of fanboys as the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
The 23-year-old dancer-actress told Access Hollywood on Dec. 16 that she was being considered for the big-screen remake, saying, “I found out and I almost peed my pants ‘cause I was so excited!” (Gross.)
The Buffy franchise has long been a fan favorite. In 1992, the film Buffy The Vampire Slayer introduced Kristy Swanson in the titular role. Joss Whedon brought the film to the small screen in 1997, with Sarah Michelle Gellar as the new slayer. The show quickly became a cultural and critical phenomenon, launching the careers of alumnus such as Sarah, David Boreanaz, and Seth Green.
Joss recently said he was asked to participate in the reboot, but declined the offer.
While we’re (sort of) open to the possibility of a fresh take on Buffy, Heather will certainly have a lot to live up to. SMG mixed a perfect amount of valley girl sass and strength in her signature role, while Heather has remained relatively one-note on Glee. She certainly has the looks and athleticism for such a part, but does she have what it takes to do Buffy Summers justice?
