President Obama and wife Michelle will NOT be invited to Prince William’s wedding — the royal couple want more ‘ordinary’ people to attend.
The US President will not be a guest at next year’s royal wedding in a major break with tradition. Should Barack and Michelle feel snubbed? A royal source tells the Daily Mail that the Obamas won’t get an invite to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s April 29 wedding — because William is not heir to the throne, and as such, the wedding is not considered a “state occasion.”
What’s more, the royal couple wants to invite more “ordinary citizens and charity workers” than VIPs and heads of state to their wedding.
Still, American Presidents have been invited to royal weddings in the past: Ronald Reagan got his invite to Prince Charles and Diana’s 1981 wedding but was too ill after an assassination attempt.
And — zut alors — the Mail reports that French prez Nicolas Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni are likely to make the cut.
