Does Sarah Palin Even Know How To Fire A Gun — Many Hunters Think She's Faking It!

The NRA champion and lifelong hunter appears to be anything but — actual hunters watched her hunting caribou on the Dec. 5 episode of ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ and think it’s bogus!

Sarah Palin LOVES to hunt! She likes to seek out all those dangerous animals peacefully roaming the abandoned expanses of Alaska and gun them down, as is her right. However, after some hunters watched the former vice presidential candidate on her now infamous caribou trek during the Dec. 5 episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska they are calling foul (or fowl, get it!). According to reports on The Awl, it appears Sarah was using the wrong gun, employing improper techniques and seemed to be clueless about basic hunting norms that even a very, very inexperienced hunter such as myself is aware of!

Let’s begin. “For starters, Palin and pa head out on a long hunt without bothering ‘to sight’ in Palin’s rifle, a mistake no serious hunter would ever make,” the site reports. Sighting, for those like myself with limited hunting knowledge, is how you establish that you will be able to hit your target. Most hunters will generally practice to get an idea where their shot will land based on elevation and windage among other things.

Then there is the rifle Sarah’s dad picked out for her — a varmint rifle. These rifles are generally used to kill birds or rats, definitely not caribou. “Why Palin’s dad chose for her a ‘varmint rifle’ for a caribou hunt and why Palin, an admitted ‘moose hunter,’ would not question such a gun’s appropriateness is never answered,” the site points out.

Then there is more. So much more. As I said, I have been hunting a few times in my life and also have some small degree of common sense so I can tell you that using a gun as a walking stick, like Sarah’s pa did, is definitely a very, very bad idea. One misstep and that gun is very likely going rogue on you.

Even commenters on Sarah’s own Facebook were calling out the outdoorswoman. “What a joke. I was a fan before the show. No one who is a true hunter lets others carry their rifle or can’t load their own shells. Sarah, you are a phony in this area of your ‘skills,'” one quipped.

Two more points brought out by The Awl, because the list is neverending, are also things anyone who has ever, ever used a gun knows. First is that you NEVER place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Not Sarah though. When she is handed a highly powerful, and highly loaded, Savage 110, the first thing she does is play with the trigger. Somewhere in heaven, Charlton Heston is sighing.

Sarah also asked if the gun she was using had a kick. EVERY GUN HAS A KICK.

The writer of the article, Abe Sauer, spoke with several of his friends who hunt and, “All agreed that she did not look like she had handled a gun many times.”

Of course this could also just be the result of clever liberal media editing or something. What say you HollywoodLifers?
