We have to ask, if you were heavily pregnant, would you be OK if your husband left you to fly halfway across the world?
Just a few days after expectant couple John Travolta, 56, and Kelly Preston, 48, revealed that the name of their unborn baby is Benjamin, John had another shocking confession: He left Kelly — flying nearly 22 hours from the U.S. to Australia — while she was having contractions! What was he thinking?
“When I left, she was having what they call Braxton Hicks, the fake labor, and we were both a little worried,” John explained to Entertainment Tonight. “But then the doctor said to drink more water, more liquids and that stops that. I think she just had a little talk with Ben [the unborn child] and said, ‘Look, let’s wait till Dad comes home and deliver then.’ But I’m ready to go at any minute, if she started having labor now we would leave and take 22 hours to get home, but I’ll get there.”
Star magazine reports that Kelly, who has been on bed rest, is less than pleased about John leaving her alone so close to her due date. “She doesn’t feel well, and she could really use the love and support of her husband right now,” an insider tells the magazine. “She could go into labor tomorrow, and the thought that she might have to have this baby alone is scary.”
After losing their beloved son Jett in 2009, some people think he should be a little more careful when it comes to their “miracle son,” who is due in less than three weeks. But John, a Qantas Airlines “Ambassador-at-Large” who was in Australia for the airline’s 90th anniversary, seems to be taking it all in stride. Apparently, he can just hop on a jet and fly himself home if she does go into actual labor. “We tried for several years, and we didn’t think this was going to happen for us,” John has said. “This is a miracle, and we feel blessed.” We wish them all the best on a safe and healthy delivery! (And we hope John makes it home in time!)
