What Would Possess This Woman To Try To Sell Her Newborn Grandson for $30,000?

Patty Bigbee has got to be the world’s worst grandmother. She was caught in the act of attempting to sell her eight-week-old grandson!

You can’t put a price on life. Unless you’re Patty Bigbee. The 45-year-old Florida resident was arrested on Friday (November 5) in Daytona Beach, along with her boyfriend Lawrence Works, 42, and charged with trying to sell her eight-week-old grandson for $30,000 cash. What could be her possible motivation? Apparently, she and Works needed the money to pay off their new Chevy Malibu.

Originally, Bigbee wanted $75,000 for the baby boy, but I guess because of these tough economic times, she was willing to accept $45,000 less in exchange for the tot. Luckily, the potential buyer was a good samaritan and tipped off the authorities about the grandma’s diabolical plan.

“This transaction was absolutely ‘take this baby, give us our money and go. So, we’re just really fortunate that the confidential source in this matter cam to law enforcement and said, ‘We need to take action on this,’” Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agent Wayne Ivey tells the Daily Mail.

Can you believe this woman cheered on her 5-year-old son as he did shots?

And take action they did. Bigbee and her beau were immediately busted after the baby was placed in the buyer’s car. She is being charged with the illegal sale or surrender of a child and communication fraud and is being held on a $100,000 bond.  Officers also believe that this wasn’t Bigbee’s first experience selling children. Works is being charged for being a principal to the illegal sale or surrender of a child and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Just what sort of sentence do you think they deserve, HollyMoms?

As soon as I heard about this heartless grandma, I immediately wondered where the baby’s mother was during this whole ordeal. Turns out the little guy’s mom Stephannie Bigbee-Davis is currently serving time behind bars for an unrelated crime. So the newborn is now in the care of local social services, which in this case has got to be way better than being with his family. What do you think?
