Jessica Capshaw, 34, known for playing Dr. Arizona Robbins on Grey’s Anatomy and for being the daughter of Kate Capshaw and stepdaughter of director Steven Spielberg, gave birth to her second child. Little Eve Augusta Gavigan joined the family unit on Wednesday, October 20. Jessica and her husband — Healthy Child, Healthy Word CEO Christopher Gavigan — already have a son, three-year-old Luke.
Can you believe, Jessica was only planning to take two weeks of maternity leave after giving birth to the little girl before returning to work at Grey’s? “We’re basically playing it by ear,” the show’s producer Shonda Rhimes says. “If she needs more [than two episodes], she’ll let me know. She’s not a new mother; she’s done this before. She feels like she’s in great shape and will be physically ready to come back almost immediately. If she needs some more time, we’re going to give her more time.”
Considering she was out and about at a Healthy Child, Healthy World event just a couple days before giving birth, it’s pretty clear that Jessica is one tough cookie. But still, don’t you think she should take a little more time off to bond with baby Eve before slipping back into her Grey’s scrubs?
Congrats, Jessica and Christopher! We can’t wait to meet your brand new bundle of joy!
