Gregg Sulkin is blossoming into one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars with tons of talent. You’d never guess it was a total accident that got him where he is today!

Becoming a famous actor was never something 18-year-old Gregg Sulkin ever thought of growing up — he was set on playing soccer and living a normal life in his hometown of London England. When a severe soccer injury sidelined Gregg for a year, he was forced to find a new outlet for expression and creativity and almost as if by magic, he fell in love with acting!

Gregg recently opened up to Teen Vogue about his crazy success and why it makes his mother cry!

“Soccer was my whole life. I didn’t ever think about being an actor,” he told Teen Vogue. “I fell in love with it when I realized how amazing, difficult, and interesting it is.”

Gregg hasn’t lost his love for soccer, but after a role in 2006’s Sixty Six and playing a werewolf opposite Selena Gomez on Wizards of Waverly Place, he has no plans of slipping back into those cleats anytime soon.

Gregg’s had the opportunity to film in New Zealand, witness first-hand Selena Gomez‘s pickle addiction and learn an American accent in two days. Now, his teen star status is about to skyrocket with the soon-to-be-released Disney movie Avalon High, but Gregg says he’s dying for a visit home.

“”I was definitely a mommy’s boy growing up,” he admitted. “She’s going to cry when I show up on their doorstep, and I probably will too.”

Awww — could he get any cuter?
