Saucy, charming and super smart, Taylor Armstrong is just the kind of gal who would add spice to any group of ladies — especially the ones on Bravo!
Beverly Hills-based philanthropist and entrepreneur Taylor Armstrong is ready to take over the world, or at least cable TV. The wealthy mom-of-one is the youngest cast member of Bravo’s new show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and she gave HollywoodLife.com an exclusive look into her crazy busy, yet glamorous life.
HW: In your opinion, which other Real Housewives city is most similar to Beverly Hills?
TA: Good question. Living in Los Angeles is most like living in New York.
HW: So you’re saying you might be more like Jill Zarin, Bethenny Frankel and crew than the ladies in Orange County?
TA: [Laughs.] Let’s just say I have a very interesting group of girlfriends. There are a lot of events and more of a social scene. It’s a big city so there are a lot of interesting things to do.
HW: You’re involved with SO many charities…what are you focusing on now?
TA: My passion is women and children of domestic violence. I work especially close with the 1736 Family Crisis Center — we operate four domestic violence shelters and one runaway shelter.
HW: What sparked your passion for domestic violence issues?
TA: As a child I witnessed and experienced domestic violence first-hand. It stayed in the back of my mind. I didn’t experience it years on end, but it absolutely had an effect on my self esteem growing up and not feeling like I was the same of the rest of my peers. [I want to show people] that those types of experiences don’t define you. You can take those experiences and grow from them.
HW: Wow. You also work as a consultant AND you have a four-year-old child?
TA: [Laughs] Yeah. Thankfully in LA you can do a lot of business in the car. When [daughter Kennedy] is with me, she always has her headphones on in the car watching a movie. Next year she’ll be in school.
HW: Do you think you’ll have more kids down the road?
TA: Being a mom and a business woman and trying to be involved in society and charity — it’s an interesting balancing act, one that is good for me. I can’t even imagine sharing my love for Kennedy with another child. I love her so much, I don’t know how I could ever love another baby as much.
HW: What does your husband do?
TA: My husband is a venture capitalist. He works constantly, too. We see each other in passing. We both have really strong business minds. It’s one of the reasons we’re attracted to each other. I’m really independent. I don’t think a lot of women could be married to someone who works as much as my husband does. It works for us.
HW: That’s great. You wear so many hats — mom, wife, business woman, philanthropist — at the end of the day, what drives you?
TA: My ultimate goal is to leave a legacy that my daughter can carry on and that she can be proud of…and just to be a strong role model for women. Give women hope.
