Andy Says: The Fifth Season Premiere Of 'Dexter' Sets The Stage For The Most Emotional & Intense Season Yet!

Our favorite serial killer might (finally) be losing his mind — and what a breakdown it’ll be!

Dexter (Michael C. Hall) may not have shed a tear over Rita’s (Julie Benz) death on the Sept. 26 season premiere of Showtime’s Dexter — but there’s a good chance you did. I did, anyway. Everyone in Dexter’s life attempted to make sense of the tragedy in the first episode of season five, which delivered everything that die-hard (tee hee) fans of the show have come to expect — including a bloody Harry-justified murder. Naturally.

And like every season before this, it doesn’t take long before someone gets on Dexter’s case. This time around, it’s Quinn (Desmond Harrington), who can’t shake the feeling that Dexter is somehow behind his wife’s death. And when Quinn ISN’T busy giving Dex the stink eye, he’s doing the no-pants dance with… OK, fine, I won’t give everything away.

The usual suspects are also back for more “fun” in season five. Masuka (C.S. Lee) makes more uncomfortable sexual comments under his breath, Angel (David Zayas) and Maria (Lauren Velez) adjust to married life, and Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) tries to be a good aunt to Rita and Dexter’s kids — while attempting to figure out what the heck is going on in her brother’s head.

Trust me, if the Sept. 26 premiere is any indication, Dexter‘s fifth season might just be its most intense yet!
