Being a parent is the toughest job you can ever have. Some moms and dads rule their little ones with an iron fist and a list of do’s and don’ts, while others – including these celebs – take a gentler approach to parenting.

“I use humor instead of that whole yes-and-no thing,” admits Marcia Cross, 48. Apparently the Desperate Housewives star lets her husband, Tom Mahoney, be the bad guy when their 3-year-old twin daughters, Eden and Savannah, act up.

Meanwhile, it’s Jerry O’Connell, 36, who finds himself getting laughed at by Dolly and Charlie, the 20-month-old twin girls he has with wife, Rebecca Romijn, 37. “Every time I yell at them, they laugh!” he recveals.

Fellow father, Russell Crowe, 46, usually plays a tough-guy on the big screen, but at home, he’s a self-professed pushover. “Between my wife and myself, I’m the pushover as far as the kids are concerned,” he says about his two sons, Charles, 6, and Tennyson, 4, with wife, Australian actress Danielle Spencer, 41. “I wouldn’t call myself strict as such, but I have certain desires for my boys. I want my boys to be good,” he adds.

Leah Remini is equally lenient when it comes to her little one. “I’m very consistent; I give in,” says the 40-year-old mother of Sophia Bella, 6, adding, “I let my daughter run the house.”

Supermodel Heidi Klum’s four kids – Leni, 6, Henry, 5, Johan, 3 and Lou 11-months – also have the run of house. “We are outnumbered. We have toys and things everywhere,” admits Heidi, who married singer Seal, 47, in 2005.

Tell us, HollyMoms, do you let your kids call all the shots or are you a super-strict parent?
