Staying fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy is crucial for you AND your baby!

Hey, mommies-to-be! Celebrity trainer Jackie Warner, star of Bravo’s upcoming series Thintervention, has some words of wisdom for you: “Work out pre- post- and during pregnancy!” The fitness guru gave her exclusive tips Sept. 13 at OK! Magazine USA’s Fifth Anniversary Party in NYC. “You can do everything except lift a lot of weights, do crunches and anything else that would put pressure on the baby. Everything else is fair game. You can do lunges, presses … you can do all of that.”

“A craving is just your baby looking for nutrients,” she told us. “Stay away from sugar because it’s not good for the baby during its developmental stage, and it’s not good for the mommy either.”

Jackie suggested pregnant women should have three to four vegetables a day, two to three fruits and LOTS of protein.

As for POST-pregnancy, Jackie said you can’t fake exercise. She warned against products like the Belly Bandit, a device that’s supposed to shrink your belly.

“The Belly Bandit sounds good, but what happens is muscles break down,” she told us.

She also said that women often stop breastfeeding too soon. Breastfeeding is a natural way to lose weight, and Jackie says “there’s nothing wrong” with it.

“Giselle is the best pregnancy role model,” Jackie told us. “She worked out before, during and after [her pregnancy.] Bethenny Frankel is another. She worked out all throughout her pregnancy. It makes for a better pregnancy time.”
