Would you leave your kids behind while you went on a romantic getaway for two weeks? An expert chimes in on whether Britney did a bad bad thing when she jetted to Hawaii for two weeks.
Britney Spears left something important at home when she went to Hawaii with boyfriend Jason Trawick — her two sons, Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3. Is it OK that the 28-year-old pop star took a two-week vacation without her sons and left them with her ex-husband Kevin Federline? One expert says that since their routine, minus the Johnny Rocket’s burger runs they take with Mom, wasn’t disturbed, her tropical trip is just fine. “Since the children were in good hands and were in fact with the parent with custodial rights, their normal routine continued regardless of where she was,” child psychologist and parenting expert Dr. Lawrence Balter says.
Sean P and Jayden seem to always have a great time whether they’re spending time at the Magic Kingdom with Dad, 32, or hanging with Mom and her beau and munching on McDonald’s. Although they know and have spent time with Jason, Dr. Balter believes that because he and Britney aren’t married or living together and the kids aren’t regularly staying overnight with the couple, the kids won’t be too upset about missing the trip. “Since she is not married to this man, it probably will not have a negative impact on the children,” Dr. Balter says.
If Brit Brit and her former agent, 38, do end up tying the knot, it will still be OK for the couple to get away once in a while! “Even married couples can take time away from the kids. Two weeks away from children so young is probably not a good idea in that situation, but certainly couples can take a weekend away and leave their children in their grandparents’ care,” Dr. Balter confirms.
