Have you ever given someone a second chance only to be disappointed, yet again – by yourself?
Ever heard the expression, ‘Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice, shame on me?” If not, let me clarify its meaning for you: it means you’re an idiot to make the same mistake twice. And although this does apply to Bristol Palin’s situation – she gave baby daddy Levi Johnston a second chance after he completely disrespected her family – I can’t fault her for hoping someone she truly loved could change.
“I got played,” Bristol told People magazine today of her ex-fiancé. She’s right – and she got played HARD. Not only did Levi, 20, nearly get another ex-girlfriend pregnant, but he also claimed he was done trying to be a celebrity and would never insult her family again. That was a big, fat lie: just one week after announcing their re-engagement and promising he had changed, Levi flew to Hollywood to make a music video mocking his future in-laws. Nice.
Yeah, Bristol picked a winner, all right. So sue her – she’s just like 80% of the rest of us! At least she did (eventually) wise up and did the right thing by dumping the toad. Sometimes you need to see someone’s true colors before you can actually walk away.
That said, don’t be worried about Bristol. She’s got a good head on her shoulders and a strong support system in her family (including Mama Grizzly Sarah Palin, who she’s already moved back in with); she’ll survive. At this point, at least she knows what she DOESN’T want – which is more than most women can say at the age of 19.
Best of all – she knows with absolute certainty that she will find – and does deserve – love. “I have faith that I’ll find it,” she said. “Through this whole experience I know I need a man who’s going to be completely honest with me and someone who loves me and [19-month-old son] Tripp and wants to be with him all the time.”
Knowing is half the battle right? Just don’t make the same mistake a third time, Bristol.
