We know all you Michael Scott lovers are disappointed Steve is abandoning his post at Dunder Mifflin, but he assures HollywoodLife.com the show will be just as good without him!
Funny man Steve Carell knows he’s letting down his fans by jumping The Office ship at the end of the upcoming sixth season. HollywoodLife.com spoke with the Emmy-Award winning actor July 19 at the NYC premiere of his new movie Dinner for Schmucks, and even though we could see the sadness in his eyes when he said it, he smiled and promised: “The Office will continue … it’s going to be fantastic.”
Steve, 47, has played the hilarious role of Michael Scott, the boss of the local Scranton, Pa., branch of paper company Dunder Mifflin, on NBC’s The Office, since 2005. Shockingly, Steve announce April 29 the he’s leaving the series. Much to the dismay of all of his loyal fans, he admitted to reporters that he’s torn.
“It’s bittersweet … it’s definitely a difficult thing to do because so many of my best friends are cast members and I love the show,” he said. “But ultimately [the decision] was for my family and wanting to spend some more time with them.”
Steve has been married for 10 years to his wife Nancy and together they have two children — Elisabeth, 9, and John, 6. We hope Steve doesn’t completely disappear, and he hopefully makes some guest appearances. It won’t be the same without him!
