Two top forensic experts listened to Mel’s intensely racist and abusive rants to Oksana Girgorieva and revealed that the audio files have been edited and were professionally made!
The authenticity of Mel Gibson‘s leaked rants have been the topic of discussion but HollywoodLife.com can now EXCLUSIVELY confirm that these audio files are not 100% authentic. We spoke to Arlo West, CEO of Creative Forensic Services, best known for his work on the Natalee Holloway case, who reveals the audio rants between Mel and his ex-girlfriend Oksana Girgorieva have been tampered with.
“These copies were professionally made for distribution,” says forensic audio and video expert, Arlo. “Their quality is extraordinary … I would be willing to bet that someone with a background in recording these types of messages helped Oksana do so to entrap Gibson. I would also expect that a person or persons also helped her edit the recordings.”
Arlo says these recordings have been professionally edited to possibly eliminate words or piece together phrases. You can see in the photo below an audio example from one of the rants that contained two edits.
“The audio files were most certainly edited intentionally and the forensic terminology for this, is tampering,” says Arlo. “The edits that I found would have been done post-recording and are clearly done to redact dialog — which means to intentionally remove words,” says Arlo. “I can tell there are gaps and edits in several ways by using waveform analysis and zero crossing analysis. These are most certainly digital recordings so there is no tape involved.”
Our other forensic expert, Frank Piazza, is the President of Legalaudio.com and also worked on the Natalee Holloway case as well as others including the famous Jon Benet Ramsey murder case of 1996. Frank tells us that he can support Arlo’s finds that there were edits in the audio.
“There are redactions, things were taken out, there were obviously things people didn’t want others to hear,” says Frank.
The most interesting piece of information that Frank found was that Mel was coming through a standard phone while Oksana was speaking through a high tech microphone.
“Oksana was speaking through a large diaphragm microphone,” says Frank. “Mel’s responses are on another channel and he is on a speaker phone. Whoever is helping her is patching it through to her. They are using something called a hybrid coupler which is used to separate the two voices. The coupler’s purpose is to accept a phone line and enable you to record what’s coming back from the phone conversation.”
We asked Arlo, a forensic expert, who has also worked for the Dr. Phil Show, on the Sarah Johnson double homicide case, U2, and for the film Titanic, if he could tell if the recordings were from separate days and times but he tells HollywoodLife.com that he would need the original recordings.
“I would need to ascertain the date stamps,” says Arlo.
We also asked Arlo if there was dubbing involved. If perhaps Oksana recorded her voice using a different device.
“I don’t believe Oksana did any over dubbing or re-dubbing of her voice in post. One clue is that they frequently speak over each other,” says Arlo.
Arlo could not %100 percent confirm that the “Mel voice” was indeed Mel. He says he would need the original audio files to do this.
Arlo wants to point out one other key point — “when one party knows they are being taped, and that they are taping an unsuspecting party they tend to be very calm and cool,” he says, explaining Oksana’s unnatural calmness during the shocking phone calls. thing he has learned over the years of analyzing audio and video.
“When a party knows they are being taped and taping the party who does not know they tend to be very calm and cool,” he says. “This is something I have heard many times when examining these types of recordings.”
